Warmongery
Including the ladies as soldiers
In his final teenage years
Then bundled off to war
Midst bands and waving pennants
No clue of what’s in store.
His elders all in full support
Puffed up with pride and joy
All overlooked the simple fact
That he was just a boy.
They lived their hate vicarious
A national disgrace
Because there simply was no risk
Of going in his place.
Politicians posed their worth
Upon the global stage
Sending children off to die
Vainglory to assuage.
The captains of industria
Then slyly looked upon
The prospects that would thus unfold
Whilst holding back their son.
But then reality took hold
Those lads began to die
In scenes of utter horror as -
They gave their lives - but why?
